If you can afford the higher end bows, go ahead. But it will definitely do a good job on game. I am looking forward to using it in the tree stand this year as well. It helped me on my quest for the 2012 Turkey Slam with Bow this past spring where I was able to shoot four of the five species of turkeys for grand slam. However, if money is a factor, the Powermax is a fine bow – just not as fancy in the build as the other Hoyts. I have used this bow for the past 8 months and love the fact that this bow is compact but still shoots great. All add up to a unique feel during the shot. The higher end bows (especially carbon) are deader feeling, not much vibration, and quieter than aluminum riser bows.
